Sonos x Beastie Boys
VISUAL IDENTITY FOR THE LIMITED EDITION SPEAKER

In celebration of the release of the memoir, Beastie Boys Book, Sonos released a limited edition Play:5 speaker in collaboration with Ad-Rock, Mike D and their friend, artist Barry McGee. Our goal was to create a cohesive visual system across the speaker design, marketing materials, limited edition packaging, and traveling brand activation at key cities of the book tour. We developed a visual identity that applied and extended the graphic language of the custom Beastie Boys typography, designed by Barry McGee, through color, graphic elements, product photography and material palette. Taking inspiration from elements that felt relevant to the DIY music and art scene, we elevated humble materials like kraft and plywood with premium production methods to create experiences that felt equal parts authentic and special.
